For those that would
argue, “What’s the big deal? It’s just somebody’s novel. Who cares?” We
would point out that Dan Brown claims that the characters and so forth in
his book are fiction, but the entire background and allegations about
Christianity are “fact”.
This is as offensive to Christians
as if someone wrote a novel with the background of the story showing an
immense cover-up detailing how The Holocaust never happened, that Hitler was
really just an essentially good but misunderstood guy, and there are a small
band of true believers that know the true “facts”.
What would happen if the author
then claimed this massive Holocaust cover-up conspiracy to be completely
factual, and that it never came out because the Germans lost (and the losers
don’t get to write history)? Jewish people (and all right thinking people)
would be justifiably horrified, offended and outraged at such a
categorically absurd allegation.
Look, if you’re an atheist or
secular humanist that doesn’t like Christianity and would like to spout off
why, that’s your business. But don’t try to write a book packed with lies
and deceptions to try and rewrite factual history to support your
atheist/secular agenda. You don’t have Christians rewriting the history
about the rocks and primordial ooze that you supposedly evolved from.
Just understand that this is
the atheist/secular agenda (Hollywood/SONY/Dan Brown/Doubleday Books/Anchor
Books) making a veiled and cowardly attack on Christianity.
It is time that Christians
start using their overwhelming economic purchasing power to end Christian
bigotry like this in America.
